Not Your Father's Contest | Trivia 47

Hey Everybody!

This past weekend was a super fun one for myself as it was Trivia! For those of you who don't know, the world's largest trivia contest is hosted in Stevens Point, Wisconsin by my universities radio station WWSP 90fm. It goes from 6pm Friday until Midnight that Sunday.
 All day, everyday.
Basically what happens is, your team (or if you're brave enough, just yourself) listens to the radio (90fm of course) and they read you off a question. The question could be super obvious, or it could be the longest run on sentence ever and you'll never know how to find the answer. Then they play two songs (some hours they just play one longer song so you have to hurry) and during those songs you find the answer to the question and then call into the station with your trivia ID and answer. Once your team calls in the answer it usually takes a while to get through as they only have about 20-30 people answering phones and literally everyone playing in the contest is calling at the same time. Imagine how it used to be! Jeez!
Then once the second song is over they call out, "Phones down in the back!" and you can no longer call the station. They then read off the answer and you try to keep track if you had gotten it correct or not and that way you can follow along with your points. Some questions are only worth 20 points, and some are worth 400. Depending on how many teams answered correctly.
We hardly get any of the multi-hundred point questions, but gosh darn it we try!

For the past 4 years, I've been playing on the team, Sparky's Dead which is my best friend Maggie's father's team.
Cap'n Don.
Don got this rad chair from a vendor at work and we were honing our mini basketball skills all weekend. It even had holders to put boxes of Cheez-Its in! It actually wasn't that bad of a chair to just plop your butt in and relax. Way to go Cheez-it!

This year was car themed so I had Ryan dialed in to answer any questions we couldn't get, as he's quite the wrench.
I stayed up until about 3am Saturday, then took my sleeping shift until Maggie and Hannah came back from the running questions. Then I was kicked out of my bed and stayed up to help answer more questions.
On Saturday we won the grocery bag giveaway from Trig's. I think we've won the bag just about every year since I've been playing. (Good luck charm?)
It was such a nice weekend as far as weather goes, I was kind of bummed that we had to be cooped up in a basement with little to no natural light. Every couple of hours I made sure to go take a walk outside. It was about 70 something degrees! The warmest it's been so far! Ugh, come back!!!
On Sunday, Christine and I went to go do the running questions at 7am at Copps and we got them done probably the fastest that we've ever done. I knew a couple of the answers before we even started running around so that was a bonus!

Can we talk about how great this 'Coachella' SnapChat filter is? Makes your eyes all irresistible n' junk.
And of course there was a lot of face swapping going on.

Sunday at about 7pm I got to do a Trivia Focus! We got a call from the station asking if we wanted to and Don volunteered me, so I couldn't say no right?
They asked a series of weird questions that I didn't necessarily know (basically they were all about Sparky, who was not my dog and he had died way before my time), so I didn't sound too enthused. They also asked me to make my best muscle car impression and all I said was "broom" and they didn't even put it on air! I was so mad. Oh well, I was still on the radio :)

I'm surprised that I'm not more tired than usual as I only got about 10 hours of sleep total. Also, shout out to Larry for having an exam the Monday after Trivia...thanks a heap.

We landed in 140th place out of like 400(?) teams. Which, is pretty darn good. We'll never be Dad's Computers good, but hey, we can try right?

Thanks for the great weekend McClures!
See you next year!

Hope you all enjoyed your weekends and if you played Trivia, what team were you on and where did you place? I'd love to keep track of your team for next year as well!

xoxo

Get Physical...ish

Hey Everybody!

I know what most everybody thinks about becoming physically better, they don't wanna.
Well, they do, but it sucks.
Eating super healthy, and moving your body so much to the point that smelly salt water seeps out from your pores and you get all warm and sore?
Yeah, no thanks.
But, ya know what? It's gotta be done, son.

Heres what I've been using/doing to help this process of physical bettering suck less:

This is definitely not the first time I've tried this app out, I used it for a while back when I was in high school. But, it definitely got a re-vamp and it's so much easier to use! You just log in your goal weight, or if you want to stay where you are tell it that, and it gives you the amount of calories it recommends for intake daily. Also, it now logs your steps and then calculates about how many calories you've burned because of those steps! Super awesome right? Each day you log whatever you eat, and how much water you drink. It's a really great way to keep track of your calories.
I don't want to get all dramatic, but it's changed my life.
Download it.

Everybody hates taking big, chalky, vitamins. So, I want to take a moment to thank God for inspiring people to make vitamins in a fun, chewable form.
Honestly, I would never look forward to taking multi-vitamins.
Ever.
And as lame as it sounds, now I actually do.
They taste good, and they make so many different kind of vitamins in gummy form. Now, I'm not a doctor but I think everyone should be taking some sort of multi vitamin and I honestly feel like I have more energy and my skin looks much better!

I picked these bad boys up from work (on clearance!) and they're super comfortable! I actually didn't have any athletic shoes besides some old softball cleats so, needless to say it was time for some new ones. Neat (yes, I said neat) color too :)

This lovely lady, Rebecca-Louise Smith, recently gained a new subscriber to her channel. What drew me to this channel was her 'How to get Toned Arms' video. It's only 10 minutes and the steps are super easy. They're mostly catered towards women, but guys are super welcome to give them a shot! They have so many more easy videos on their xhit channel and the best part? They're free!
Gotta love YouTube.

Added things that have helped me in small ways are coffee (for an added boost of energy, and a bit of help in the colon region, tmi?) and being a bit busier as the semester rolls on (so less time to sit around and gob down heavily caloric foods) and spring finally being here! Always want to be outside more so I park further away from my class so I get a few more steps in everyday.

What have you been doing to get physical..ish?
Have any added pointers or things that could help a girl out? Send them my way!

Hope you are all enjoying your March and spring!

xoxo
