Hello Everybody!
Every summer Ryan and his Dad go to Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin to see the races at Road America. For the past 3 years I've tagged along and to my surprise, I really like it!
It's fun to get out of town, for one thing, but you spend all day watching extremely expensive sports cars race against each other for (what this time was) the Pirelli World Challenge, or the Road to Le Mans races, which is where I saw Patrick Dempsey!
Anyway,
This year it was just Ryan, his Dad, and I and we were on our feet most of the day trying to get the best pictures. Most of the areas are blocked by multiple fences (you know, the kind that stops cars from hitting and killing people..) so you can't really get a good picture of the cars themselves. But, if you get there early enough you'll get to go along pit road or through the pits and see (and even touch!) the cars.
There were Italians everywhere. They're all short-to average height, clean shaven with expensive hair cuts, and wear the most expensive clothes (they are Italians, after all) and were all very good looking. And no I didn't get a picture of them. Darn.
Anyway, Here's a few pictures I snapped!
Ryan's Dad, Wayne, and one of the drivers of the Cadillac team.
We learned that the foreign based race teams don't really like people looking in on their work but the domestic teams were all for it!
Cars lining up for the first race.
Me, in the most expensive car that I will ever sit in. Maybe a Maserati suits me more than I thought.
As always, had to snap a picture of my favorite car ever. (Thanks, Ryan!)
The ride there was a bit eventful with me getting a speeding ticket. Guess I wasn't in the greatest mood and wanted to get out of the car as soon as I could. It wasn't a bad day after everything settled down and we walked around in the fresh air for hours. We each got a bit sun burnt and got loads of pictures. The white balance on my camera was acting up for a while and I'm no expert on getting flawless photos of fast moving objects so most of my photos didn't turn out. Sigh.
Afterwards, we dropped Wayne off at his home and we went to ours. It was safe to say the sun definitely got to us because we took a nap as soon as we (mostly I) put everything away.
It was a fulfilling day and we'll do it again next summer!
Hope you're all having a great July!
xoxo
